Empresa israelense reproduz “cerveja bíblica”, com trigos especiais descobertos por universidade

Uma cervejaria de Jerusalém produziu uma bebida artesanal a partir de trigo, classificada como cerveja, e que teria sido popular em Israel nos tempos de Jesus. No entanto, o gosto teria deixado a desejar.

“Um gole da mistura pode ajudar a explicar por que o vinho era a bebida sagrada preferido da Bíblia”, afirmou o jornalista Dan Williams, da agência de notícias Reuters.

A cervejaria Herzl Brewery – descrita como a menor de Israel – usou uma espécie de trigo identificada pelos geneticistas da Universidade de Tel Aviv como a cepa que era usada para fabricar cervejas há dois mil anos.

Com uma quantidade limitada, a empresa fabricou 20 litros do que foi apelidado de “cerveja bíblica”, mas o experimento não tinha interesse comercial. Segundo Williams, o teor alcoólico da bebida resultante da fermentação é de 3%, e o sabor lembra uma mistura de mel com a fruta baga, pouco conhecida no Brasil.

A bebida foi fabricada a partir de cinco quilos de grãos do trigo especial doados pela universidade, além dos demais tradicionais ingredientes, como lúpulo, fungos e água.

O proprietário da cervejaria, Itai Gutman, disse que bebeu a maior parte da produção com seus amigos, nos últimos seis meses, e que sobrou apenas uma garrafa: “Nós estávamos curiosos para saber se seríamos capazes de reproduzir a primeira cerveja ‘bíblica’”, disse, reconhecendo que a bebida realmente “não tem o tipo de sabor que teria mercado”. Ele não tem planos de fabricar mais.

As pesquisas recentes sobre a cerveja nos tempos bíblicos descobriram que é muito provável que Jesus e seus discípulos tenham conhecido a bebida, que teria sido levada pelos hebreus antigos do Egito, de acordo com o Museu Judaico de Munique, na Alemanha.
